Key Stage 5:
During Key Stage 5, students will delve into vocational specialisms, focusing on attaining industry-standard qualifications. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to pursue their Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Alongside these endeavours, students will work towards achieving a grade 4 or Functional Skills Level 2 equivalent in English and Maths. Furthermore, they will have the chance to acquire various specialist industry qualifications, such as the Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate and the CSCS qualification.
Recognising the importance of social and emotional development, students will receive additional support tailored to their needs, preparing them for adulthood. The Sixth Form provides a nurturing environment where young individuals can flourish and progress. Emphasising the Preparation for Adulthood framework, our focus extends to independent living, employment and training, community inclusion, and health.
Key Stage 5 students will commence and conclude their days within forms in the main school, ensuring a positive and familiar routine. They will participate in an Enrichment timetable and, where appropriate, join the main school for the Celebration Assembly on Fridays and themed assemblies weekly.
Throughout the curriculum, students will engage in workplace visits and career-focused events, providing valuable real-world experiences.
For the 2023-2024 academic year, our Key Stage 5 Vocational Offer includes:
City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Hospitality and Catering: This program offers hands-on experience in our professional kitchen and an industry-standard catering classroom. Over two years, students will complete 12 units covering various aspects, such as meat, poultry, and fish preparation, teamwork in hospitality, and food hygiene.
City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying: Students will develop practical skills in bricklaying, tackling more complex techniques like brick and block walling, arch work, and pointing, alongside learning about health and safety in the construction industry and building principles.
NCFE CACHE L1 Certificate/Diploma in Caring for Children: This certificate aims to enhance students' understanding of professional childcare, covering essential skills and knowledge required in the field.
