At Key Stage 5, students focus on vocational specialisms and work towards industry-recognised qualifications. The curriculum is designed to support both academic and personal development, ensuring students are prepared for the next stage of their lives.

Vocational Qualifications

English & Maths

  • All students work towards achieving a Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths (Functional Skills Level 2).

Industry Certifications

Students have the opportunity to earn additional qualifications such as:

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
  • CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) Card

Including career fairs, employer visits, mock interviews, and CV-writing workshops.

2024–2025 Vocational Pathways
City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Hospitality and Catering

This two-year course offers a hands-on introduction to working in the catering and hospitality sector, delivered in our professional kitchen and industry-standard training facilities.

Students will cover 12 units, which include:

  • Food safety and hygiene
  • Preparation and cooking of poultry, meat, and fish
  • Baking and pastry production
  • Cold food presentation
  • Front-of-house service skills
  • Working in a team
  • Stock control and kitchen operations

Learners also gain experience in planning menus, understanding nutritional needs, and managing customer service scenarios, preparing them for roles in commercial kitchens, restaurants, and catering establishments.

City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying

This course provides an in-depth introduction to the construction industry with a focus on skilled bricklaying techniques. Delivered in our construction workshop, students develop hands-on abilities and industry knowledge.

Key learning areas include:

  • Building solid and cavity walls
  • Constructing arches and piers
  • Pointing and finishing techniques
  • Mixing and using mortar
  • Understanding construction drawings and specifications
  • Health, safety, and welfare in construction
  • Sustainable construction practices

Students also explore site preparation, material handling, and communication within the construction sector, laying a strong foundation for apprenticeships, employment, or further study in construction trades.
