RATIONALE

The BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise is designed to provide learners with a practical and vocationally focused introduction to business and enterprise. INTENT

The intent of the BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise is to provide students with a strong foundation in business and entrepreneurial knowledge, while developing essential transferable skills such as problem-solving, communication, decision-making, and financial awareness. The course aims to inspire students to understand how businesses operate, grow, and respond to external influences. It promotes creativity, initiative, and enterprise thinking, preparing learners for a range of future pathways including further education, apprenticeships, or self-employment. IMPLEMENTATION

The course is delivered through a carefully sequenced and engaging curriculum that balances theory with practical application. Students explore real businesses, conduct research, and undertake project-based tasks across three components. Components 1 and 2 are internally assessed and focus on researching enterprises and planning and pitching a business idea. Component 3 is externally assessed and focuses on promotion and finance, ensuring students can apply learning in a formal context. Lessons are designed to be interactive and collaborative, with a strong emphasis on real-world relevance, independent learning, and the development of practical business skills. Regular feedback, peer review, and self-assessment are embedded to support progress and reflective learning.
