Its out of this world – Science and Maths Day 2017
Last Thursday 19th October the whole school took part in a Science and Mathematics day. All lessons were taught around this theme.
In English with Mrs Unwin the boys composed poems about the solar system and typed them up onto space themed backgrounds. Using the computers with Mrs Orme they also programmed their own ‘space invaders’ games.
In Science and Mathematics pupils made protractors from cardboard and used these to calculate the height of fireworks, set off from a safe distance by Mr Coot.
In Art the boys had fun sketching the solar system in pastels and make models of planets using balloons and papier mache.
Finally as an outdoor activity, Mr Thorley and Mr Rayner took students orienteering in the nearby woods and taught the boys to navigate using stars, the sun and a compass.
